The Valley Estate wedding

Pagan and Ben’s The Valley Estate Wedding pretty much had it all. I mean check out the Manor in the pic above. This place is insane. But first up, I’d like to start this blog with a bit of Nick Cave:

“I don’t believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms” – Nick Cave

This is a super special song for Pagan and her dad. Pagan chose to walk down the aisle with her dad to this song as part of her and Ben’s ceremony. I’m actually not really sure of the exact relevance of this song to Pagan and her dad. It’s kind of nice that there’s a bit of mystery behind the importance of this beautiful piece of music. Mystery and Nick Cave seem to go hand in hand.

As for me, this has to be one of the most incredibly moving pieces of music I’ve ever come across. When I was first putting Pagan and Ben’s images together I actually had Into My Arms playing in the background, just to create the right sort of atmosphere to go with the pics. Yep, I actually find the type of music I am listening to at the time can influence how I edit. I felt like this piece of music married so well with the narrative of the day. I even arranged for Pagan and Ben to listen to this piece as they first saw their wedding pics. It went down pretty well I’m led to believe.

Seriously, you should play Into My Arms while looking through this gallery. I can definitely say with confidence it will add to your experience.

Anyhow, there are some pretty neat things you will notice about Pagan and Ben’s wedding.

Firstly, I know it may be a bit early to call but I’m going to do it anyway. Pagan officially had the best wedding dress of the year (or ever for that matter). Trying to describe it’s awesomeness here wouldn’t do it justice. You’ll see for yourself in the pics below.

I told Ben that “this is probably my favourite day ever” and he said, “it is about to get better.”

And their proposal story. Seriously, these two. Pagan tell’s me this is how it went down:

“Ben proposed on a surprise holiday to Hayman Island. Firstly he got us a helicopter to take us there… and we were greeted by a man on a golf buggy who gave us a short tour of the island. Then we were met by two staff holding my favourite drink (Pimms). After that they showed us to our room and we took a walk to the marina. THEN we took a boat over to Hook Island. We had a picnic on the beach there as the sun set.

I told Ben that “this is probably my favourite day ever” and he said, “it is about to get better.” Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He had designed my engagement ring and it has both our birth stones in it. I know what you’re thinking… he is the best. I know. :)”

I honestly had such a wonderful time being a part of Pagan and Ben’s The Valley Estate wedding. I had built up such a wonderful connection before the wedding with these two that they both hugged me when I arrived on their wedding day. Hooray for seriously amazing couples!
