Genna and Peter’s Port Macquarie wedding at Sails Resort was stunning, different (in the best possible way), with a beautifully styled modern chic/African theme.
There are so may great and unusual things I could say about Genna, Peter and their wedding day. First up, Genna and Peter are two absolutely hilarious individuals. As you will see from the photos, there was pretty much non stop laughter throughout the whole day. They both share a strong and passionate zest for life and have extremely quirky sense of humours. Genna did, after all, walk down the aisle to the music from the Titanic movie! And the word ‘infidelity’ has taken on a whole new meaning after their wedding ceremony. I’ll keep that one as an inside wedding joke for the moment 😉

In all the weddings I’ve photographed, I’ve never come across a couple who were hooked up by one of their grandmothers! True story! In fact, I even have the inside details. I believe it went something like this:
“Genna’s grandmother and her friend Marlene were commenting on how pretty Genna looked. Genna’s grandmother told Marlene that Genna only dates men of colour, full stop! Marlene said she actually knew a single African man that was working for her son. So they sent a selfie of Genna to Peter’s mate Johnny. At first Peter thought it was a prank because Johnny plays lots of pranks on Peter, including telling him if he finished work by 3 p.m. and brought his passport to work that day they would be going on a cruise. So Peter didn’t reply for a few days until he found out it was real and not a prank. He then messaged Genna and the rest is history!”

On a more serious note, Genna is truly inspiring in so many ways! She is the founder of a not-for-profit organisation that provides education, skills, vocational training, health, literacy, clean water, employment and support to communities in Kenya. How amazing is that! You can check out her organisation Gennarosity Abroad here. Genna’s humanitarian values even made an appearance in the wedding ceremony, whereby the witnesses were handpicked at random out of a hat. After all, fair is fair, right?

All in all, this was a truly amazing day that I was so happy to be a part of. A special mention to Marry Me Michelle for saving the day with the first kiss photo and for Emma Lilly for amazing wedding styling! And lastly, keep a look out for Genna’s two good mates doing an amazing surprise rendition of ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ during the wedding speeches.
