Laurise and Matthew’s Byron View Farm Wedding was nothing short of amazing! With stunning sunset, a beautifully styled reception under the stars, and an awesome couple, this wedding was certainly one for the books.

Byron View Farm Wedding

One thing I love about photographing weddings is all the sweet things you learn about the couples you photograph. As you may notice from the following images, Matthew is quite a dapper fellow. Well, it turns out Matthew is as romantic as he is dapper!

Matthew originally planned on proposing to Laurise on the top of Mt. Warning. However, due to fires he had to come up with a plan B. And his plan B was pretty darn special. Matthew proposed to Laurise under the Brisbane New Year’s Eve fireworks. And well, the rest is history.

Laurise and Matthew did an excellent job organising their wedding in less than three months. Yes people, it can be done!

The day before I received their enquiry, I actually visited Byron View Farm as part of the Byron Wedding Trail. I couldn’t believe how phenomenal the venue was, with its rolling hills, stunning views of the ocean and hinterland, and of course, the resident Border Collie. The next day when I got Laurise and Matthew’s enquiry for Byron View Farm I nearly lost my sh*t!

I was so super excited to photograph at this venue and have my own unique take on it. As it turned out, it was overcast for most of the day. Which of course is fine. It makes for nice diffused photos during the ceremony and evenly lit portraits. However, there is a part of me that is a complete sucker for dramatic sunset photos.

During the main course the sun poked out from a tiny gap in the clouds on the horizon. The entire venue became instantly illuminated with the most ethereal light I have yet seen at a wedding. To quote a much loved poet (Leornard Cohen), “There is a crack in everything , that’s how the light gets in.” I was somewhat reluctant to interrupt the main course, but Laurise and Matthew didn’t take much convincing. The pic above is what resulted from this magical moment.

If you happen to be reading this at a much later date than when the wedding took place, you might be wondering ‘what’s the with dunny rolls during the speeches?’ Well, there’s no hiding the time in which this wedding took place. I certainly appreciated the good humour and fun vibes throughout the day.

On a personal note, Laurise and Matthew are the most loveliest of people. They were so chilled and had complete trust in my vision for their special day. Thanks heaps guys, I honestly had the time of my life help create stunning memories for you both!
